Mosaic Cake
Performance, 2010
"Mosaic Cake“, a performance, which was produced for 2nd Antakya Biennial, focuses on two issues: first the representational stereotypes that are attributed to the city of Antakya being a mosaic due to its multi-cultural origins, and secondly the ancient Mosaics Museum that marks the city’s past and remains in the city center today.
Eğrikavuk worked with six performers from the city and together the group created a choreography based on the poses from the ancient mosaics. The performance took place three times in different public spaces of the city, leading the audience to question the city’s cultural heritage and its ownership.
